I'm not trying to become a permanent line in your family calendar. Tutoring works when it makes itself unnecessary. When a student gets stuck, tries something sensible, and only then considers asking for help.
So alongside the homework, we practise the unglamorous habits that carry students through exams: writing solutions someone else can follow, checking whether an answer is even plausible, and revising in a way that survives contact with a real test.
lesson rhythm
How lessons work
Lessons start from the student’s own material: homework, class notes, recent tests, practice papers, or unfinished attempts. Seeing how a student writes, skips steps, checks answers, or gets stuck tells me more than a diagnostic worksheet ever could.
Make the thinking visible
Students practise writing down steps, naming variables, drawing when useful, and explaining how they reached an answer.
Build reusable strategies
We turn each fix into something reusable. Students practise what to check first, how to start when the page is blank, and when a quick sketch will save ten minutes.
Finishing today's worksheet is useful. The real progress is when a student gets stuck and still knows what to try next.

My teaching style is shaped by Swedish classroom experience: students should feel seen, questions should be safe to ask, and mistakes should be part of the learning process.
I pair that with high expectations and honest, specific feedback. Feeling safe isn't the opposite of being challenged; it's what makes the challenge work.

study habits
Use AI without skipping the thinking
Students are already meeting AI tools, and pretending otherwise doesn't prepare them for anything. So we use them properly: for a hint, for a second explanation when the first one doesn't land, for checking a single step before moving on.
Used well, AI is a patient study partner. Used lazily, it does the homework and quietly takes the learning with it. Most students can't yet tell which is which; that's the part I teach.
