Holiday Intensives

Concentrated tutoring over the school holidays to catch up, get ahead, or prepare for a big exam without term-time pressure.

Organised study materials for exam revision

This isn’t a separate subject so much as a different way of working. Here, we focus on one-to-one tutoring during the school holidays, when a student has the time and the headspace to make real progress rather than just keep their head above water through term.

What a holiday block is good for

A term can leave gaps that never get filled, because the class keeps moving whether or not everyone’s ready; a holiday gives enough uninterrupted time to go back to where things first came loose and repair them properly, rather than patch over the next test and hope. It can work in the other direction too: walking into a demanding term or a new stage having already met the first few weeks of material changes how it feels to sit in the room (especially useful for a student about to start a bilingual, English-immersion track, who can get comfortable doing maths in English before any of it counts). And when a fixed exam season is approaching (the Maturaprüfung, the IB papers in May, the Gymiprüfung in spring), the weeks beforehand are the natural time to consolidate and practise under real conditions, which is where the “intensive” earns its name. The summer is also a sensible window for a family relocating to Zürich, when a child can settle into the maths of their new school, in English, before the first day rather than during it.

How it works

A holiday intensive runs as a short, agreed block rather than a single weekly lesson, which means more hours compressed into a week or two, which suits the way this kind of work builds momentum. We set the goal at the start and shape the block around it.

Planning ahead

One practical thing worth knowing: the holidays are a narrow, fixed window, and one-to-one time over a break is genuinely limited. A lot of families want the same fortnight in April or the same stretch of summer. So if a holiday block is something you’re weighing up, it’s worth getting in touch well before the break rather than in the week it starts. This means we’ll be able to plan a proper block around your child rather than fit them into whatever slots are left.
